Well done Rose and Niki - we're all so proud of you!

We're growing as an organisation, continually developing our services to support an ever increasing number of individuals who need services like ours. As we do so, an awareness of what we do and how we do it is spreading far and wide resulting in our pioneering staff members, such as Rose and Niki, gaining prestigious recognition and well deserved awards.

Introducing The Howard League for Penal Reform's Criminal Justice Champion, Rose Mahon!

In November, Rose Mahon, our Head of Excellence, was named "Criminal Justice Champion" at the prestigious Howard League for Penal Reform's Community Awards.

Catryn Yousefi, Programmes Manager at the Howard League for Penal Reform, said: “Our Community Awards celebrate the success of projects that guide people away from crime and make us all safer. Only the very best schemes in the UK are honoured each year and, once again, we were delighted to receive so many high-quality nominations.”

Rose said: “It’s an honour to be recognised and a privilege to continue to work alongside many fantastic colleagues at the Nelson Trust who tirelessly support some of the most vulnerable people in our community.”

John Trolan, our Chief Executive, added: "Rose personifies who we are as an organisation, is an inspiration and role model for all staff and I can't think of anyone more deserving of the recognition for a career dedicated to the pursuit of social justice for the disadvantaged and deprived."

According to the Longford Trust, Niki Gould's Outstanding! (of course, we agree!)

Niki Gould, our Head of Women's Services, has been awarded a Longford Trust award for Outstanding Achievement for the in-reach work she developed in HMP Eastwood Park. As part of her prison work, Niki set up Re-unite Gloucestershire, supporting women in prison to be housed on release and to be re-united with their children. Niki is a passionate advocate for women caught up in the criminal justice system and has a particular interest in working with women in prison.

Here's Niki with John Snow, Ken Loach and her Dad right after she collected her award from the one and only Ken Loach!
