Volunteer Delivery Driver

Are you looking for a new challenge? Do you have free time to volunteer at lunchtimes? Are you interested in becoming the new volunteer delivery driver, helping to support the team as our business grows? Come and join our dynamic team at The Sober Parrot in Cheltenham.

To support the day to day running of the Sober Parrot by delivering our external catering offer. We are a not-for-profit, charity run café by day and an alcohol-free, live music and events dry bar by night, based in the heart of Cheltenham. We are owned and operated by The Nelson Trust, a charity that works with people who are affected by addiction and those who have experienced multiple disadvantage. Our lively café is growing and so is our external catering offer, so we are looking for the support of a volunteer delivery driver.

Role information

Responsibility for supporting the team at the Sober Parrot including, but not limited to:

  • Packing and organising external catering orders
  • Delivering orders to local businesses
  • Collecting packaging and utensils
  • Promoting the café and our catering options
  • Distributing leaflets to local businesses
  • Supporting the coordination of catering orders
  • Supporting kitchen staff when deliveries are going out

As this part of the business grows, we are looking for a volunteer who is committed, reliable and flexible to join our team. We will require you to have your own vehicle and a full UK driving licence but travel expenses will be covered. In return, we will provide an induction, ongoing support and training and a delicious lunch after every shift and we will bring you in to our friendly and supportive team.

Maintain a proactive relationship with customers, volunteers, trainees and members of the recovery community to promote The Sober Parrot as a welcoming and supportive environment for people in recovery from addiction and the public.

Volunteers are expected to participate fully in training courses provided.

All Nelson Trust personnel are to be responsible for own safety and others affected by their activities and to ensure adherence to the Nelson Trust policies and procedures regarding Health & Safety.
