The Nelson Trust is honoured to be the recipients of a collaboration between artist Mel Cormack-Hicks and @gathereduk, with the aim of raising money for vulnerable women in the South West.
You have an exclusive opportunity to own a piece by a collectable artist while helping women in our community. These covetable artworks, abstract studies of the Cotswolds Hills around Mel’s home, are designed as decorative pieces.
Whilst Mel’s distinctive style is obvious, the works in this project have been created using a freer, scaled back intensity over a short period of time.
These original paintings look stunning individually or in sets, and they work beautifully in a number of different settings. This first collection consists of 50 paintings. ALL donations go directly to the charity.
Size 8” x 8”
Suggested donation: £50 per painting.
“These canvases recreate the vibrancy of a summer’s day in the Cotswolds. One of those days when you can feel the sun warming your soul.
They are inspired by my daily walks high on the Cotswold hill where I live. The skies are just huge. As I emerge from the cool of the woodland, the expanse of cobalt blue sky never fails to take my breath away.
The next colour that draws my attention is the heavy green of the trees, set against the acid yellow and green fields where they reside. The trees look as if they are reaching their heads into the vast sky above them, as if to intentionally punctuate the blue.
These colours and shapes provide the perfect complement to the drama of the skyscape above.
It delights me that my decorative pieces can both serve to give pleasure to those who generously donate to The Nelson Trust, whilst simultaneously having an impact on the lives of women who are in such need.
I feel so honoured that my experiences of the landscape on canvas will be used to support the life-changing work of The Nelson Trust. Particularly at a time which has proved to have had such a huge impact on the circumstances of so many.”
