Clay Shoot and Black Tie Dinner a Success for The Nelson Trust

The Clay Shoot and Black Tie Dinner held on Friday 15th May at Berkeley Castle and the Folly raised an impressive £56,000 for The Nelson Trust. Thirty-two teams participated in the shoot, with Edward Notley Kent’s team winning the Richard Lister Trophy. 130 people attended the dinner in the evening held in the Great Hall at Berkeley Castle. The auction itself raised £31,000 and the raffle raised over £1,300. Read More

Cotswold Hills conquered for The Nelson Trust

Three keen runners tackled the Cotswold Hills on Sunday 10th May and took on the Stroud Trail Marathon and Half Marathon for The Nelson Trust raising funds to support those who are facing challenges caused by drug and alcohol addiction. Two runners completed the full marathon and one runner completed the half marathon. Read More

Join us and celebrate 30 years of The Nelson Trust on Saturday 11th July at our Fete and Family Fun Day at the Star Centre, Hope Mills Business Park, Brimscombe, Stroud, GL5 2SE between 2.30pm and 4.30pm. Bring along friends, family and colleagues – the more the merrier!  There’s something for everyone, from traditional Trap the Rat and a Coconut Shy to flamboyant dancers and a Dog Show. Big band to get the vibe. Children can get their faces painted and et off steam on the bouncy castle. Guests travel from near and far to listen to Antony Beevor

The Nelson Trust Annual Lecture took place on Thursday 23rd April 2015 on a glorious spring evening in the grounds of Westonbirt School. 140 guests travelled from near and far to hear Antony Beevor share his unique knowledge and passion for modern history. Antony is one of the country's most distinguished historians and has written a succession of books relating to military history. To date he has sold over 6 million copies. The event was also a successful fundraiser, raising over £6,600 for the charity. The Annual Lecture is the first fundraising event of the year, which is also the 30th anniversary year of the charity. Clay Shoot and Dinner at Berkeley Castle

Our most popular fundraising event is now less than a month away, with the Clay Shoot and Black Tie Dinner taking place on Friday 15th May 2015 at Berkeley Castle. Last year the event coincided with the BBC filming Wolf Hall. Many of the guests were mistakenly sent to the middle of the film set, after saying they had arrived for the 'shoot', adding to the unique experience. Read More

New Grant from Public Health England Boosts Gloucestershire’s Hub for Recovery

Public Health England has just announced a grant of £350,000 to The Nelson Trust.  The money, from the national Drug and Alcohol Capital Grants Fund, has been awarded for the purchase of a building in Stroud which will serve two important purposes for Gloucestershire’s recovery community: downstairs will be an Upcycling Shop trading restored and redecorated furniture and household goods; upstairs there will be accommodation for up to four individuals who have successfully completed their addiction treatment and are just at the point of returning to paid employment.
