We're proud to announce that we've been selected to be part of a pioneering programme to open up opportunities for vulnerable women in Swindon and Wiltshire.
Thanks to The Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund, we're now working with 39 organisations to help hundreds more women overcome barriers to education and employment and achieve their potential.
Building Bridges is a partnership of organisations, led by Community First, who have come together to deliver the Building Better Opportunities Programme across Swindon and Wiltshire. The £3.9M local funding is part of the Building Better Opportunities (BBO) programme.
This programme has been created to support people across Swindon and Wiltshire who are facing significant challenges in developing skills, accessing education and moving towards the world of work.
The Building Bridges team will work with individuals on a one-to-one basis to help them address all these challenges and barriers they’re facing and develop their own personal plan so that they can achieve their goals at their own pace.
The Nelson Trust is one of 39 organisations with the experts and resources to support families and individuals with the skills and confidence they need to move forward.
Each participant in the scheme will have full access to specialist mentoring and assistance, from developing physical and mental wellbeing to accessing debt and financial advice, along with help with practical needs like transport and childcare.
Our team at the Women’s Centre in Swindon is looking forward to equipping even more women with the skills to turn their lives around.
