Gloucestershire ISIS

The ISIS Women’s Centre is a unique resource for both Gloucestershire and Wiltshire – a safe, women-only space where a wide range of problems related to offending, substance misuse, safety and well-being can be addressed in a warm and supportive environment.

Who is this service for?

This is a service for women who may be vulnerable because they have complex problems, and could be at risk of offending or re-offending.

How can I access this service?

We are a referral-only service. We can currently accept referrals from criminal justice agencies and from substance misuse services. All service-users must be women (18+) living in Gloucestershire. (See the purple box on the right for referral details.)

How does the Service Work?

Every new client is offered a detailed individual assessment of their needs across nine “pathways”: these are housing and homelessness; physical and mental health; drugs and alcohol; finance and benefits; family and relationships; domestic abuse; sex working; education and training; attitudes, thinking and behaviour.  Each client has a named key worker who develops with them a support plan to address the most urgent needs first (such as having a safe place to stay) and then addresses ongoing difficulties through regular sessions over a period of week or months.

What is it like to be a client at Isis?

In this photo-film a former client, Kathleen, shares her experience of working with her ISIS keyworker to overcome a range of challenges including her relationship with her young son, housing and money worries and her own feelings of self-respect and confidence:

Another woman, Henna, talks here about her experience of arriving at ISIS for the first time as a very reluctant new client.

What else do we do?

Across the week there is a full timetable of activities including accredited educational courses, workshops and groups covering well-being, life skills and social integration.  We have a free creche for clients, a gardening group, a lunch club, showers, a washing machine and a cafe area where you can relax.  We also provide surgeries and drop-in sessions for a wide range of services.  Find out more by exploring the links on the left.

We also run a new service for young women in Gloucestershire. For more information visit our Rural Outreach Service page.
